Novi Vinodolski celebrates all year round. In winter, the town comes alive with the Novi Carnival (Novljanski mesopust). On May 1, Raspjevani balkoni (“Singing Balconies”) brings a flower fair and a frittata made with a thousand eggs. Summer evenings belong to the old town and the promenade: Okolotorno turns the narrow streets into a stroll past stalls, music and children's activities, at the end of July Fešta od kilometra brings together local food, wine and music by the sea, and the Church of St. Philip and St. James hosts concerts of the International Classical Music Festival. In mid-September, the Novljanski gušti food festival on Ivan Mažuranić Square serves homemade dishes and wines.
A centuries-old carnival custom, listed as intangible cultural heritage of the Republic of Croatia since 2011. The circle dance on the square in front of the Frankopan Castle and the trial of Mesopust on Shrove Tuesday bring the whole town together, and on Ash Wednesday the straw figure, blamed for everything that went wrong during the year, goes up in flames.
In August, before the grape harvest, Novi and Vinodol choose their Ružica. Young women compete in the Pavlomir vineyard in games inspired by old harvest customs, and the festival in the old town comes with wine, local products and klapa performances.
In December, the town glows with festive lights, and Santa's house in Turnac Tower becomes a favorite stop for families with children.
