This summer is the perfect time to go to Makarska and visit a new beach along the Riviera’s coastline every day. To make it a bit easier for you to choose where to start, you can find a list of five most beautiful beaches on the Makarska Riviera below.

Nugal beach

 

Nugal Beach on the Makarska Riviera has been attracting more and more attention from locals and tourists in recent years. Every nature lover will enjoy the peace and quiet of this secluded pebble beach surrounded by cliffs and woods. Nugal is truly a hidden gem of Makarska, about a half-hour walking distance from the town center in the direction of Tučepi.

You can reach it by boat or a walk through the lush forest of Osejava Park. It is good to know that the prestigious travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler ranked Nugal Beach among the top 25 most beautiful European beaches. Vogue France also ranked it among the top 8 most beautiful Croatian beaches.

Punta rata beach

On the west side of Punta rata you can find a big detached rock that forms a tiny island near the beach, which is a symbol of Brela and a very common backdrop on numerous Instagram photos. The rock is overgrown with pine trees and stands proudly in the water, showing off its beauty.

Vruja beach

Vruja is an isolated beach located on the Makarska Riviera, just 6 kilometers north of Brela. It is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful beaches in Croatia. To get there, you will need to hike, but the view from the highest point of the hike is definitely worth it. Keep in mind that the sea at Vruja beach is slightly colder than at the other beaches on the Riviera, so it’s a great refreshing option for extra-hot summer days.

Families who want a little peace and quiet tend to visit Vruja, but there are also private areas near the main beach reserved for nudists.

 

Solarić beach

Solarić beach is located on a cape around 3 kilometers south of Makarska city center. The beach is popular among the locals, who love to take a refreshing swim in its turquoise waters or at the nearby beach Kraljev gaj.

There’s an added bonus - the rocky shore of Solarić beach is surrounded by natural shade provided by a pine tree grove. Also, you can enjoy an unforgettable view of the brightest pearl of all the beaches on the Makarska Riviera - the nearby Nugal beach. While the beach is usually quite private, it can get crowded during high season, so it’s best to visit it early in the morning.
