Art that belongs here Art is not an afterthought here, but an integral part of the hotel’s story. The works of Croatian artist Diana Trohar were created specifically for this hotel, in dialogue with stone, wood, textures and a heritage spanning more than a century. Subtle and tactile, they reveal themselves gradually, leaving space for each guest to experience them in a personal way.
For the hotel, Diana Trohar created the series Notes on Silk comprising thirteen silkscreen works on canvas inspired by Korčula and its most famous traveller.
Four larger artworks explore raw and tactile materials such as ceramics, hemp, concrete, chalk and plaster.
This is not art added to a hotel. This is art created for it.
Its almost monochromatic earth-toned palette naturally complements the stone, warm wood and refined textiles found throughout the interior.
Interestingly, the artistic and architectural palettes were not coordinated in advance. They evolved independently and came together in an almost intuitive harmony.
The artworks are more expressive in the shared spaces of the hotel, while becoming quieter and more intimate in the rooms.
They do not necessarily reveal themselves at first glance, and that is precisely part of their appeal.
